Kolkata Society for Empowerment of the Differently Abled(KSEDA), a non-profit NGO, was founded in June 2017, aiming to empower persons who are differently abled.
It worked under Society for the Visually Handicapped as "project deafblind" since 2005. The management was, and still is run by a group of members
who offer voluntary services. The office work is done when a child with blindness, deafblindness and multiple disabilities is referred to KSEDA resource
center, the team of educators assess his/her functional visual, hearing and motor abilities.
KSEDA has registration under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961 (S/2L. No. 63743 of 2017-18), with its registered office and Resource Centre at 60/5/1 Haripada Dutta Lane, Tollygunge, Kolkata 700033.
KSEDA has 7 members in its Governing Body, and 9 General Body members.
KSEDA has been awarded the status of West Bengal State Learning Centre on Deafblindness by Sense International India.
KSEDA organises services from its office. Educators visit the residences and provide life-skill training to the children and young adults. Some of them also come to the Centre for additional training and /or therapies. All the trainings are provided on 1 educator : I student model.

At KSEDA, we are committed to helping every differently abled individual through our services.
After functional assessment of hearing and vision, intervention strategies are undertaken at the residences. Parents are also trained by the process.
School readiness training and direct support for mainstreaming in education in school and college/university is provided.
Young adults who are not enrolled in formal education, are provided with need-based and age appropriate training with the aim of developing their skills to find out suitable livelihood in the future.
